Arthur Fogel named to Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame
It was only a matter of time before the man behind the Rolling Stones` Steel Wheels tour, U2’s 360, Madonna’s The Sticky & Sweet Tour and The Police, was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame.

The honor for the Canadian native, who Bono called “the most important person in the live music world,” will take place April 20 in Toronto at Canadian Music Week’s annual Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards.

“Mentored by Canadians such as Donald Tarlton, Norman Perry and Michael Cohl, Arthur has never forgotten where he got his start. CMW is proud to welcome Arthur Fogel into the Hall of Fame," CMW president Neill Dixon said in a statement on the news.

"I am honored to be inducted into the music industry hall of fame,” said Fogel, Live Nations’s chairman, global music and president, global touring, in a statement. “It is particularly gratifying given my history and roots in Canada and the Canadian music industry."

Fogel got his start in the concert business at Toronto club The Edge in the late `70s before joining Concert Productions International (CPI) in `81 as Perry’s executive assistant and learning, as Dixon noted, from him, Cohl and Tarlton. In 1986 he was appointed president of the concert division at CPI, a position he held until 1995.

He then became president of The Next Adventure (TNA), a global touring company formed by the principals of CPI. In 1998, following the acquisition of the company by SFX, he oversaw the global touring division. In 2002, SFX was acquired by Clear Channel Communications where he ran the global touring division. In 2005, the entertainment division was spun off as Live Nation, which is where Fogel remains today.

Fogel has promoted Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Rush, Bette Midler, Bruno Mars and most recently Beyoncé on her still-underway Formation World Tour. He was also the worldwide tour promoter for David Bowie for 25 years.

He has been on the Billboard Power 100 list each of the last four years and received the 2014 TJ Martell Entertainment Visionary Award and 2007 Pollstar promoter of the year.

Fogel oversees the acquisition of global artist tours and personally oversees many of Live Nation`s largest tours.
