Lollapalooza Sweden announce headliners
Lollapalooza Stockholm will debut June 28 and 29, 2019 in the Swedish capital. Now, the event`s inaugural lineup has been announced.

Foo Fighters, Travis Scott, Lana Del Rey and Swedish folk-pop artist Laleh will headline Lollapalooza Stockholm, with Bring Me the Horizon, The 1975, Eric Prydz, Greta Van Fleet, Billie Eilish, Brockhampton and more rounding out the lineup.

Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell, WME, C3 Presents, Live Nation Sweden and Swedish subsidiary Luger will produce the event.

"The historic Gärdet and the iconic festival Lollapalooza are the perfect match," said Thomas Johansson, Chairman International Music, Live Nation, upon the event`s May announcement. "For decades we have been wanting to do a really big festival in Stockholm and we are very honored and excited to do this together with Charles Attal and his team at C3 Presents."

Last month, C3 shared the lineups for Lollapalooza Chile, Argentina and Brazil. All three take place concurrently on the last weekend of March and will feature a rotating cast of the same headliners: Kendrick Lamar, Arctic Monkeys, Twenty One Pilots, Lenny Kravtiz, Post Malone, Sam Smith and Tiësto.

Tickets for Lollapalooza Stockholm go on sale Dec. 5.

Earlier this decade, Lollapalooza began to expand beyond its flagship Chicago event. The festival`s first international edition debuted in Santiago, Chile in 2011. Events in São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Berlin and Paris followed.

While Lollapalooza`s international events have generally succeeded, Lollapalooza Brazil has been the juggernaut. The festival, which debuted in 2012, has appeared in Pollstar`s Top 20 Worldwide Festival Grosses every year since 2014; in 2017, the most recent year for which data is available, the event sold 150,666 tickets for a gross of $13.23 million.

Other events in Lollapalooza`s global portfolio have encountered more turbulence. Lollapalooza Berlin has been staged each of the last four years — at four different venues. But in September 2019, it will return to its 2018 venue, Berlin`s Olympiastadion. A 2013 Tel Aviv edition was scrapped months before its debut.

Lollapalooza`s marquee event has also prospered financially since putting down roots in Chicago`s Grant Park in 2005. It expanded from three days to four in 2016; in 2014, the most recent year for which data is available, the festival was the fourth-most lucrative internationally, selling 300,000 tickets for a gross of $28.81 million. In 2018, headliners included The Weekend, Burno Mars, Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, Travis Scott, The National and Vampire Weekend; organizers also added a GA+ ticket package offering more shade, seating, air-conditioned restrooms, complimentary water, and beer and wine discounts. However, a 16-year-old attendee`s death marred the event.

The Lollapalooza suite remains an essential component of Live Nation`s business. Concert revenue rose 26 perfect, to $7.9 billion, in 2017, and festivals played a significant role in that, with revenue from Live Nation`s 97 fests rising 14 percent.
