The Brighton Centre was opened by Prime Minister James Callaghan on 19th September 1977, and was heralded as one of Europe's premier venues.
At the time of the construction, the Brighton Centre was the largest purpose built conference centre in the UK, and one of the biggest indoor arenas capable of hosting major entertainment events. The Brighton Centre is owned and operated by Brighton & Hove Council, and it is estimated that the economic benefit to the town is in the region of £28m per annum.
Today the Brighton Centre remains the largest conference and entertainment venue in the South, with a varied programme of major conferences, trade exhibitions and public events on offer.
