The Tallinn Song Stage was built in 1959 for the Song Festivals.

The rooms under the stage, including administration premises, are designed primarily as gathering places for the performers. They also enable organization of exhibitions, fairs, etc.

The stage was designed to
accommodate 15 000 singers, but it also enables a reversed usage where the performance is taking place on the horizontal surface in front of the stage and the audience is sitting on the stage.

On the north side of the Song Stage rises the 42 m high Light Tower.

Tallinna Lauluväljaku Ltd. was a public limited company founded in 1994 as the legal successor of the Leisure Parks Directorate. All shares of the company were owned by the Tallinn City Government. Tallinna Lauluväljak was an operator-type service company that managed the land of the Festival Grounds owned by the state and the buildings and facilities owned by the City, and offered various services to its customers.

In April 2004, Tallinna Lauluväljak Ltd. was restructured into the Foundation Tallinna Lauluväljak.

The mission of the Foundation Tallinna Lauluväljak is to develop the Festival Grounds in such way as to create an attractive and accessible environment for entertainment, culture and leisure, a sight for tourists and Estonia's best-known and highly valued location for entertainment events.
