Held at Plateia Nerou (Water Plaza), a stunning open space by the sea just minutes from Athens` city center, the festival has attracted over 800,000 music fans.
It has hosted a plethora of renowned global artists across various genres, including Arctic Monkeys, Slipknot, Liam Gallagher, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Pet Shop Boys, Rosalia, Prodigy, Wu-Tang Clan, London Grammar, Judas Priest, Iggy Pop, PJ Harvey, Alice In Chains, New Order, Cypress Hill, Jamiroquai, and many more.
The organizing team behind Release Athens is engaged with both local and global music industries, comprising experts in music event management and promotion.
The festival actively participates in international music events like Eurosonic, HEMI Music Hub, Tomorrowland, EFFE label, and Europavox, fostering partnerships that enhance its brand and contribute to the Greek music industry`s growth.

The festival 2024 kicked off on 9th June with a powerful rock lineup featuring The Offspring, The Subways, Danko Jones and The Overjoyed.
