The Smile have canceled their August European tour following the recent hospitalization of Jonny Greenwood. "A few days ago, Jonny became seriously ill from an infection that required emergency hospital treatment, including time in intensive care," the band announced. "Thankfully, he is now out of danger and will soon return home." The band`s full statement and the affected tour dates are listed below.
The Smile, comprising Jonny Greenwood, Thom Yorke, and Tom Skinner, released their second studio album, *Wall of Eyes*, in January. The trio supported the album with shows in March and June.
The band statement reads:
“A few days ago, Jonny became seriously ill from an infection that needed emergency hospital treatment, some of it in intensive care. Mercifully he is now out of danger and will soon return home.
“We have been instructed by the medical team in charge of Jonny’s care to cancel all engagements until he has had time to make a full recovery. To that end, The Smile tour of Europe in August is cancelled.
"We all wish Jonny a speedy recovery.”
The Smile are represented by 13 Artists on the agency side, and ATC Management.
