US rapper Fatman Scoop has passed away at the age of 53 after collapsing during a concert in Connecticut.
The New York native was performing at Town Center Park in Hamden on Friday when he collapsed mid-set.
His booking agency, MN2S, announced his death in a statement to the BBC, saying, "His legacy will live on through his timeless music."
The agency praised Scoop as a beloved figure in the music industry, known for his iconic voice, infectious energy, and unforgettable personality. Scoop`s family also paid tribute, describing him as "a radiant soul" who brought laughter and support to their lives.
Born Isaac Freeman III, Fatman Scoop was a key figure in New York City`s hip-hop scene during the 1990s. He gained fame for his collaborations on hits like Missy Elliott`s Grammy-winning "Lose Control" and Mariah Carey`s "It’s Like That." His track "Be Faithful," initially released in 1999, became an international success in 2003, topping charts in the UK and Ireland.
