Liam Payne, former member of the boyband One Direction, has tragically passed away at the age of 31 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, according to local police.
The incident took place on Wednesday at a hotel on Costa Rica Street in the Palermo neighborhood.
Authorities in Buenos Aires said officers from the 14B Police Station responded to a 911 call on Wednesday afternoon regarding an aggressive man who was possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol. While the police did not explicitly name the individual as Payne, the statement pertains to the same location.
Payne had been in Argentina recently, where he attended a concert by his former bandmate Niall Horan on October 2, as seen in videos shared on social media.
He had also recently celebrated his 31st birthday in the UK, according to videos he posted on Snapchat. Born in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, Payne was the youngest of three siblings and studied music technology at the City of Wolverhampton College.
Liam Payne rose to fame as a member of One Direction, a hugely successful British boyband formed in 2010 after the members appeared on the UK version of "The X Factor." The group included Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan.
