Neil Young has announced he will not perform at Glastonbury 2025, claiming the festival has fallen “under corporate control” due to its partnership with the BBC.

In a letter posted on his Neil Young Archives website, the 79-year-old musician expressed disappointment, stating, “The Chrome Hearts and I were looking forward to playing Glastonbury, one of my all-time favorite outdoor gigs. But the BBC, now a partner in the festival, wanted us to do things in ways we were not interested in. Glastonbury is not the way I remember it.”

Young’s participation had been rumored but was never officially announced. The BBC, a Glastonbury partner since 1997, and festival organizers have not yet commented on his decision.

The 2025 festival, scheduled for 27–29 June, is expected to feature Olivia Rodrigo, Eminem, Rihanna, Sam Fender, and Ed Sheeran, with Rod Stewart as the only confirmed act so far.
