Marc Lloret, former director of the Mercat de Música Viva de Vic (MMVV), passed away this Sunday. Lloret led the MMVV project alongside artistic advisor Oriol Roca for 14 editions, from 2011 to 2024.

The MMVV is an annual music industry event held in Vic, Catalonia, serving as a platform for artists, professionals, and industry representatives to showcase new music, foster collaborations, and promote live music. Under Lloret and Roca’s leadership, the event expanded its international reach and became a key space for reflecting changes in the music industry.

A journalist by training, Lloret began his musical career in the mid-1990s, co-founding the group Orange with Dani Acedo. In 1999, he was a founding member of Mishima, a notable band in Catalan independent pop, where he played keyboards. He was also involved in projects such as Felicitat Blanch and Aperio Crus. As a cultural manager, he co-directed the PopArb festival in Arbúcies from 2005 to 2015, further contributing to the promotion of Catalan music.

Lloret’s contributions as both a musician and cultural manager have left a lasting impact on the Catalan music scene.
