Music legend Billy Joel has canceled all upcoming tour dates after being diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a brain condition that affects balance, vision, and hearing.

In a statement shared on his official Instagram, the 76-year-old singer said recent performances had worsened the condition, prompting medical advice to pause all shows during recovery.

Joel is undergoing targeted physical therapy and “is fully committed to prioritizing his health,” the statement added.

“I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience and thank you for understanding,” Joel said.

NPH is a neurological disorder where excess cerebrospinal fluid builds up in the brain, often causing walking difficulties, memory issues, and incontinence. It typically affects older adults and is frequently misdiagnosed as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease.

The cancellation affects 17 concerts across North America and the UK. The tour had marked Joel’s return to the road after concluding his record-breaking Madison Square Garden residency, where he performed monthly from 2014 to 2023 — all 150 shows sold out.
