The company linked to the cancellation of The Fratellis’ scheduled headline appearance at the Scottish festival Back Doune the Rabbit Hole festival has confirmed it is entering liquidation.

Wannasee Ltd, which had been involved in the initial planning stages of the revamped Scottish music festival, acknowledged this week that it is “now in the process of entering liquidation,” citing wider industry challenges.

The announcement follows criticism from both the band and festival organisers. The Fratellis recently withdrew from their headline slot, originally scheduled for August, citing a failure by promoters to “fulfil contractual obligations to pay deposits” necessary to confirm their appearance.

Back Doune Ltd, the festival’s organising body, attributed the issue to the involvement of Wannasee Ltd. In a statement, the organisers said that external assistance had been brought in during early planning, including logistical and booking support from individuals affiliated with the Wannasee Group.

They emphasised that these individuals “were never directors or owners of Back Doune the Rabbit Hole,” and that the problems only became clear after issues surfaced with other events associated with the group.

Despite the setback, festival organisers Brian Harkin, Colin Black, and Paul Aspey have reiterated their commitment to the event, assuring ticket holders that planning remains on track and that a new Saturday night headliner is already being arranged.

Wannasee Ltd, which has faced a series of cancellations across its own events portfolio, said it had no ownership or official stake in Back Doune the Rabbit Hole. A spokesperson added: “We wish the team at Back Doune Ltd every success in delivering what we`re sure will be a fantastic festival this summer.”
