Connecting the live music industry
Rocco del Schlacko, one of Germany’s long-standing independent music festivals, has announced that its 2025 edition will be the last.
Promoters shared the news on social media, marking the end of a 25-year run that has seen the event grow into a fixture of the summer music scene, drawing around 25,000 fans annually.
Writing on Facebook, Thilo Ziegler from Promoter Presented for People explained the decision: “There won’t be a new edition in 2026, because we only want to make the festival the way you know and love it. We’ve been completely independent for a quarter of a century, subsidy-free, and not bought by corporations. With creative freedom instead of corporate specifications, with passion instead of hype. Locally rooted and not sold out. A festival that belongs to you and has never been just a product.”
The statement reflects concerns about the evolving live music landscape, where exclusive deals, major touring packages, and corporate consolidation have made it increasingly difficult for independent festivals to operate on their own terms. “We’re being squeezed by structures we don’t want to be part of, and we refuse to become a tool for corporate profit,” organisers added.
Despite the challenges, the team promises to go out on a high note. The 2025 edition will feature a full lineup, including performances by Yungblud, Kontra K, K.I.Z, I Prevail, Enter Shikari, Tream, 01099, Ufo361, Madsen, Ikkimel, Zartmann, Mehnersmoos, Bosse, Team Scheisse, Blond, and Betontod.
