Connecting the live music industry
Finnish artist management company Backbone Management has opened a UK office, marking its first international expansion.
The new operation will be led by Adam Sagir, director of London-based music PR and marketing agency The Noise Cartel.
Founded in 2014 by CEO Panu Piippo and head of management Antti Eriksson, Backbone has guided the global careers of Finnish acts including Ville Valo (VV, HIM), The Rasmus and Blind Channel. The roster also features Swallow the Sun, Ensiferum, Atlas and Stam1na.
With the launch of Backbone Management Ltd in the UK, the company has added three British artists: Grammy-nominated rock duo Bones UK, progressive metal band SikTh, and modern metal act Vexed.
Sagir brings more than 25 years of industry experience spanning label management, booking, artist management and publicity. He will continue to run The Noise Cartel alongside his new role.
Backbone describes the expansion as a milestone for the Finnish music sector, becoming the first management company from the country to establish operations abroad.
The wider management team includes Katja Vauhkonen, a former Sony Music Finland executive who won Manager of the Year at the Finnish Music Industry Awards in 2019, and Henkka Seppälä, former bassist of Children of Bodom, who joined Backbone in 2023.
