The deal includes the full shareholding of Arena CPHX P/S, the company that owns the 17,000-capacity venue.

The venue, operated by Live Nation since its opening in 2017, has hosted global and Danish stars including Metallica, MØ, Rod Stewart, Billie Eilish, Lukas Graham, Justin Timberlake and Olivia Rodrigo.

Royal Arena was financed jointly by Copenhagen Municipality and Realdania, each contributing DKK 325m (~€43m) in equity to the project. The arena’s total construction cost amounted to DKK 1.4bn (~€188m), with the remainder funded through loans. From the outset, both partners intended to divest their ownership once the venue was fully established.

Copenhagen’s Lord Mayor Lars Weiss said the move ensures long-term continuity for one of the city’s most important cultural assets:
“Royal Arena has become part of Copenhagen’s DNA, hosting everything from Metallica, Madonna and U2 to the Ice Hockey World Championship and the Men’s Handball World Championship. We’re pleased to pass the baton to our long-standing tenant, who can continue delivering major music and sports experiences to the city.”

Anders Kjørup, CEO Royal Arena said: “From the first concert in 2017, when Metallica took to the stage, the Danes have been in love with this amazing building—delivering world-class experiences for artists and fans alike. Now, as both owner and operator, Live Nation is even more committed to the venue and the surrounding area, and we look forward to developing it for many years to come.”

The transaction is conditional on legalising the use of certain ground-floor façade areas, requiring physical modifications and an amendment to the local development plan. The purchase price and full contractual terms remain confidential due to competitive considerations.

The deal is scheduled to close in 2026.
