MusikWoche Relaunches Under New Ownership

MusikWoche, one of Germany’s longest-standing music industry trade publications, has been relaunched under a newly established publishing structure following a management buyout and external investment.

Since the beginning of February, the company has been operating under MusikWoche Verlagsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG. 

The new entity was founded by Berlin-based media entrepreneur Carsten Stricker, managing director of verstärker medienmarketing GmbH, together with MusikWoche’s management team.

The move follows several years of financial uncertainty after the insolvency of holding company Busch/Glatz. 

Through the management buyout and Stricker’s investment, the publication’s future operations have been secured under independent ownership.

Carsten Stricker, Publisher & Managing Director of the new company, said:
“I`ve been a MusikWoche subscriber since the very beginning and have closely observed its contributions to the industry for over 30 years. In recent years, I`ve been concerned about the conditions under which this dedicated team has had to work. I`m therefore all the more pleased that, together with the management and the lawyers involved, we`ve found a solution that secures the long-term future of Germany`s leading music industry publication. I`m very much looking forward to working with and for MusikWoche.”

Norbert Schiegl, Editor-in-Chief of MusikWoche, added:
“I have known Carsten Stricker for many years and am very pleased to be working with him and the entire MusikWoche team to shape a stable and sustainable future. Our aim is to further develop MusikWoche in a contemporary way and to maintain the industry`s central information and dialogue medium. Founded more than 30 years ago, MusikWoche is headquartered in Munich-Schwabing and operates in Berlin, Leipzig, North Rhine-Westphalia and other European metropolitan areas. The publication focuses on B2B reporting across the German and international music industries.
