Connecting the live music industry
Utrecht-based music venue De Helling has appointed Amber Chen as its new Club Promoter, effective April 1.
Chen, who was born and raised in Utrecht, the Netherlands, is also active as a DJ and producer under the moniker Ambu Bambu. In recent years, she has worked as a producer for Relate Radio in Groningen, building experience across programming, artist relations and music curation.
De Helling is a well-established venue in Utrecht with a capacity of approximately 490, known for its focus on alternative, electronic and niche programming. The venue plays a key role in the city’s nightlife ecosystem, hosting concerts, club nights and genre-specific events that cater to diverse subcultures and communities.
Arlette de Jong, director of De Helling, commented: “We’re very excited to have Amber as our new club promoter. De Helling offers space at night for a diverse range of programming, with a focus on artists, organisers and audiences from specific niches. Amber brings talent and a deep network that can broaden our horizons and further embed De Helling within these communities.”
Chen said her new role represents an opportunity to connect her national and international network with her hometown venue. “My world has grown through music. Although I was based in Groningen, I’ve travelled extensively and connected with artists from across the country and abroad. Starting at De Helling means I can now offer the network I’ve built over the past years a home. I’m excited to help shape De Helling’s broad programme and present the best each niche has to offer.”
