Dutch venue Doornroosje appoints new booker

Sam Heegstra has joined the programming team at Dutch music venue Doornroosje in Nijmegen as concert booker, effective March 1. In the role, he will focus on concert bookings with an emphasis on pop music and Dutch artists.
Heegstra previously worked with venues and events including EKKO, Grasnapolsky and Le Guess Who?, and most recently spent two years as pop programmer at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht.
Commenting on the appointment, Heegstra said his goal is to contribute to Doornroosje’s programme by developing a strong and relevant concert lineup while supporting emerging talent. He highlighted the venue’s role in giving artists early opportunities to perform at spaces such as Merleyn and the Valkhof Festival, before progressing to larger stages such as Doornroosje’s Red Hall or other venues in the city.
Joris Holter, CEO of Doornroosje, welcomed the appointment, noting that Heegstra brings programming experience and an established network within the Dutch music sector that aligns with the venue’s profile.
Doornroosje is one of the Netherlands’ key live music venues, presenting concerts and club events across multiple stages in Nijmegen.
