Connecting the live music industry
Amsterdam-based venue Melkweg has appointed Milou Zoer as booker, effective April 1, as part of its continued focus on developing and expanding its club programming.
Melkweg is one of the Netherlands’ leading multidisciplinary music and cultural venues, located in a former dairy factory in central Amsterdam.
The venue hosts a wide range of concerts, club nights and cultural events across multiple spaces, including the large-scale MAX hall (approx. 1,500 capacity) and more intimate rooms such as OZ (approx. 700 capacity), making it a key platform for both emerging and established artists within the Dutch and international live scene.
Zoer joins from Bibelot in Dordrecht, where she worked as a programmer, and is also active as business manager of Paardenrave, a fast-rising club concept. In her new role, she will work alongside programmer Lévi Smulders to further develop Melkweg’s club profile. Smulders will remain responsible for part of the club program and will take on an expanded role as program coordinator.
Her appointment follows the departure of junior programmer Lieve Goedhart, who has moved to Dekmantel.
Melkweg said Zoer’s experience with innovative concepts, niche programming and community-driven projects aligns with the venue’s ambition to serve diverse audiences and strengthen its position within Amsterdam’s nightlife ecosystem.
Laura Vogelsang, general director of Melkweg, said: “We like to see ourselves as the music venue with the most extensive and diverse club program in the Netherlands. Nightlife is an essential part of the Amsterdam cultural landscape for us. It is in our DNA. Investing in nighttime talent is therefore a matter of course, both in front of and behind the scenes. In that context, we are particularly delighted to bring on board a young and exceptionally talented programmer like Milou, who can put the Melkweg’s club programming even more firmly on the map.”
Zoer added: “Melkweg is the place where my love for live music began over twelve years ago and where I have spent countless hours over the years. It feels very special to now become part of a place that has meant so much to me. For me, programming is about balance. There must be room for big headliners and concepts that an audience already trusts, but just as much for new ideas, playfulness, and above all, a lot of guts. This aligns seamlessly with Melkweg’s priorities for the coming period, including optimizing the MAX Hall for major headliners while simultaneously further refining niche programming.”
