The Beverly Hills-headquartered company posted an operating loss of $370.5 million for the quarter, compared with operating income of $114.8 million in the same period last year.

The result was primarily impacted by a $450 million legal accrual related to governmental investigations and litigation.

Net loss attributable to Live Nation common stockholders totaled $389.1 million in Q1 2026, compared with net income of $23.2 million in Q1 2025.

Adjusted operating income (AOI), which excludes certain non-cash and one-time items, increased 9% to $371 million.

Concerts Revenue Reaches $2.8 Billion
Live Nation’s concerts division generated revenue of $2.78 billion in Q1, up 12% year-on-year, accounting for the majority of the company’s total revenue.

Concerts AOI totaled $2.9 million, down from $6.6 million last year, although on a constant currency basis AOI increased 79% to $11.8 million.

Fan attendance across concerts reached 24 million during the quarter, up 7%, while tickets sold for 2026 Live Nation concerts increased 11% to more than 107 million through the end of April.

The company said more than 85% of its large venue shows for 2026 are already booked, with stadium, arena and amphitheater show counts all pacing ahead of last year.

Ticketmaster Revenue Up 10%
Ticketing revenue, primarily driven by Ticketmaster, increased 10% to $765 million.

Ticketing AOI rose 1% to $255.6 million despite approximately $30 million in legal and operational improvement costs during the quarter.

Ticketmaster processed 81 million fee-bearing tickets in Q1, up 4%, while total fee-bearing tickets transacted for 2026 events through April reached 138 million, up 9%.

Gross transaction value (GTV) increased 15% to $17 billion.

Sponsorship Delivers Strongest Margin Growth
The sponsorship and advertising division delivered the strongest growth among Live Nation’s operating segments.

Revenue increased 20% year-on-year to $258.6 million, while AOI rose 21% to $164.6 million.

Live Nation attributed the growth to strong international festival activity in South America and expansion of its venue portfolio. The company said 85% of sponsorship commitments for 2026 had already been booked by the end of April, pacing double-digit growth.

Deferred Revenue and Cash Position Hit Record Levels
Live Nation reported record deferred revenue balances in both concerts and ticketing.

Event-related deferred revenue increased 22% to $6.6 billion, while ticketing deferred revenue rose 29% to $368 million, representing $5.5 billion in deferred ticketing gross transaction value.

Cash and cash equivalents stood at $9.1 billion at the end of March 2026, compared with $7.2 billion a year earlier. Free cash increased to $1.7 billion from $1.1 billion.

The company also continued expanding its venue business through acquisitions including Movistar Arena Santiago, Unipol Forum and IMPACT Arena, which together represent approximately four million annual fan capacity.

Michael Rapino, president and CEO of Live Nation said “2026 is off to a powerful start, with first quarter revenue climbing 12% to $3.8 billion. In an increasingly digital and AI-driven world, the global desire for authentic human connection has never been stronger. We are seeing a fundamental shift as fans prioritize the ‘live’ experience—the chance to be physically present with their favorite artists and share that energy with friends and fellow fans in a way a screen simply cannot replicate.

This cultural demand is driving record-breaking activity across our business. We have already booked over 85% of our large-venue shows for the year, with show counts up year-over-year across stadiums, arenas, and amphitheaters. Our momentum is clear: we have sold over 107 million tickets to date—an 11% increase—and Venue Nation is on track to grow fan attendance at our owned and operated venues by double-digits. As we continue to expand our global footprint to meet this growing demand for physical connection, we are well positioned for long-term compounding double-digit growth.”
