Connecting the live music industry
The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, has appointed Kiley Williams as its new General Manager, bringing back a venue executive whose career began at the historic theatre more than a decade ago.
Williams first entered the live entertainment industry in 2015 as an editorial intern at Relix Magazine, where she spent the summer covering festivals and developing an interest in live music. Later that year, she joined The Capitol Theatre as a bartender, working her first show during a performance by The Decemberists.
She subsequently took on a variety of roles at The Capitol Theatre, including artist hospitality, while also supporting production, marketing and artist operations at events such as the LOCKN` Festival.
In 2020, Williams relocated to Nashville to join the opening team at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville. During her time there, she progressed from Operations Manager to Senior Operations Manager and later Director of Operations, overseeing more than 600 shows. She worked under the mentorship of industry executive Sara Barnett.
Most recently, Williams served as General Manager of the House of Blues Boston, where she oversaw venue operations and staff management.
Returning to The Capitol Theatre nearly a decade after first working at the venue, Williams will be responsible for venue operations, staff leadership, artist and guest experience, and strategic initiatives supporting the theatre`s continued development.
“The Capitol Theatre is the venue that raised me,” said Williams. “This building, this team, and this community have played such an important role in my professional journey. I`m honored to return and lead a venue that means so much to me, and I`m excited to continue building on its incredible legacy while creating unforgettable experiences for artists and fans alike.”
The appointment comes as The Capitol Theatre celebrates its 100th anniversary.
“As we celebrate The Capitol Theatre`s 100th year, there`s something really special about welcoming Kiley home,” said owner Peter Shapiro. “She started her journey here and has spent the last decade growing into a leader in the industry. Along the way, she`s shown her passion and care for artists, fans, and her teams. Kiley knows this place, believes in what it stands for, and understands the community that makes it unique. We`re psyched to welcome her back as GM and excited for the future of The Capitol Theatre under her leadership.”
Designed by architect Thomas Lamb and opened in 1926, The Capitol Theatre is a 2,000-capacity venue listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Following a major renovation led by Shapiro in 2012, the theatre has hosted artists including Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg and Kacey Musgraves, as well as comedians including Kevin Hart and Amy Schumer.
