In his new role, Verhoef will programme live music, dance, performance and art as Gashouder develops into a permanent cultural venue.

“After more than six beautiful years at Paradiso, I`ve started a new role as Music Booker at Gashouder where I`ll be programming live music, dance, performance and art as the venue transforms into a permanent cultural space. Excited to help shape its future,” Verhoef said in announcing the move.

Located in Amsterdam’s Westergas cultural district, Gashouder is a former industrial gas storage building dating from 1885. After the Westergasfabriek closed in 1967, the circular building was later rediscovered as an event and cultural space, with Holland Festival and electronic music promoter Awakenings among the organisations that helped establish its modern-day role.

Gashouder is now positioning itself as a multidisciplinary cultural venue covering live music, nightlife, dance, theatre, performance and immersive art installations.

With a capacity of more than 3,500, the venue aims to provide a space for both emerging artists and established acts looking to retain a more intimate setting. Its model combines cultural programming with commercial events, with revenues from the latter helping support experimental and artistic productions.

Gashouder also works with a range of cultural partners as part of its multidisciplinary programming strategy.
