UK Agents x Managers Conference returns in December

Following last year’s sold-out inaugural event, the Agents x Managers Conference will return to Lon

Following last year’s sold-out inaugural event, the Agents x Managers Conference will return to London’s Rich Mix on December 4, 2024. Organized by independent booking agency Runway, the event aims to foster stronger relationships between agents and managers while deepening mutual understanding of both roles to support the growth of artist businesses. The 2024 edition will delve into essential topics faced by agents and managers navigating the live industry, offering a one-day program of panels alongside dedicated time for networking and meetings. Highlights this year include a review of the current live music landscape from key stakeholders’ perspectives, stories from industry entrepreneurs who have forged their own paths, and a thoughtful examination of how artists can navigate increasing ethical pressures around sponsored events while authentically expressing their views. In addition, the mental health charity Tonic will offer role-specific Peer Group sessions and a Mental Health Lounge, aiming to build stronger support networks among professionals. The Peer Group Sessions are bookable one-hour slots for up to 15 conference attendees, facilitated by a Tonic Music psychotherapist with significant music industry experience. An open, one-hour Mental Health Lounge will also be available for any conference attendees who wish to discuss their mental health with Tonic Music’s team. Bespoke resources will be provided for attendees to read and take home as part of the lounge offering. Confirmed speakers on the broader program include representatives from LIVE, SoundCloud/Musiio, ATC, Big Life Management, Tonic Music, the Association of Independent Festivals (AIF), The Musicians’ Union, The Library, and many more. Runway founder Matt Hanner (pictured) said, “It’s great to be able to bring this event back for a second year. It was a big success in 2023 and we received some really positive feedback. Even though it’s beyond what we would normally do as a booking agency, providing this conference feels like a chance to make a meaningful contribution to the independent sector in particular. We’re looking forward to connecting in person with our peers as the year draws to a close to reflect on the past 12 months. We’ve put together a genuinely unique schedule that is highly tailored to agents and managers big and small, and we encourage new and upcoming professionals in particular to come and get involved.”
