Twisted Sister cancels planned 2026 tour
Twisted Sister has cancelled its planned 50th anniversary reunion performances scheduled for 2026, citing health-related issues affecting lead singer and songwriter Dee Snider.
The band had announced in September 2025 that it would return for a limited run of anniversary shows, marking its 50th year and coming a decade after the conclusion of its farewell tour. The performances were due to begin on 25 April 2026 in São Paulo and continue through the summer.
In a joint statement, guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda said the cancellation follows Snider’s “sudden and unexpected resignation” from the planned shows, brought on by a series of health challenges. They added that all scheduled performances have been cancelled and that the future of the band will be discussed in the coming weeks.
In a separate statement, Snider outlined the reasons behind his decision, explaining that decades of high-intensity touring and performance have resulted in degenerative arthritis and multiple surgeries, limiting his ability to perform. He also revealed more recent heart-related concerns, stating that he is no longer able to perform at the physical level he believes is required. “The idea of slowing down is unacceptable to me,” Snider said, adding that he would rather step away than perform at reduced intensity.
Twisted Sister’s most recent live appearance took place in January 2023, when the band performed a short set at its induction into the Metal Hall of Fame. Prior to that, the group’s last full concert was on 12 November 2016 in Mexico, during what was billed as its final tour.
