Swedish festival sets new attendance record

Sweden’s Way Out West festival has reported a new attendance record after its 2026 edition sold out across all three days.

A total of 81,500 unique visitors attended the festival in Slottsskogen, Gothenburg, from 13–15 August, beating the previous record of 78,000 set in 2025. It marks the fifth consecutive year that Way Out West has increased its attendance record.

First full sell-out since 2008

The 2026 edition was completely sold out across all ticket categories. Thursday tickets were the final category to sell out, marking the first time the opening day had reached full capacity.

According to promoter Luger, it was the first time Way Out West had achieved a complete festival sell-out since 2008, when the event was still staged over two days.

Ticket demand had been strong throughout the sales period, with several categories selling out well ahead of the festival.

The 18th edition featured a line-up including The Cure, Gorillaz, Lorde, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Moby, Zara Larsson, Blood Orange, Clipse and Veronica Maggio, alongside the festival’s Stay Out West programme at venues across Gothenburg.

Five consecutive attendance records

The latest figure continues a period of sustained growth for the festival. In 2025, Way Out West welcomed 78,000 unique visitors and at the time reported its fourth consecutive attendance record.

Way Out West was launched in 2007 and is promoted by Swedish concert and festival company Luger.
