SoAlive 2024 Connects Balkan Talent with Global Music Industry

Last week, Sofia was the host of the second edition of the SoAlive Music Conference, a premier event in South East Europe`s music scene. The conference brought together over 610 international delegates and showcased performances from more than 36 bands and artists from across the Balkans and beyond. With 20 panels, five workshops, and 36 live concerts, the event once again highlighted its mission to bridge the gap between the Balkan music scene and international industry leaders. The conference was officially opened by Mariya Gabriel, the event’s patron, alongside Nikola Barbutov, Sofia`s Deputy Mayor for European policies, international activities, and tourism. Although Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov and EU Commissioner Iliana Yordanova could not attend in person, they sent video messages congratulating the participants and emphasizing the importance of music in cultural and economic development. In her opening remarks, Mariya Gabriel celebrated SoAlive’s rapid growth, stating, “In just two years, this conference has become a key event for the music and cultural industries in Bulgaria and the Balkans. Music not only drives innovation and economic growth but also strengthens our communities and cultural identity.” Nikola Barbutov echoed her sentiments, adding, “Sofia has the potential to become a hub for the music industry in the Balkans. Art fosters sustainable development for cities, but it needs the right environment and support to thrive.” VIP-Booking.com`s General Manager, Peter Briggs, moderated a panel with festival organizers on the future of live music experiences. Organisers hailed SoAlive 2024 as a major success, with more than 5,000 local attendees. Across multiple stages, standout performances from acts like WOOMB, Ivo Dimchev, Oh Voyage, Mystery of Bulgarian Voices, Mia Dimsic, IOVA, and VICTORIA showcased the best of the Balkan music scene.
