Glenn Hughes Cancels Shows and Retires from Touring

Glenn Hughes has cancelled his forthcoming live performances and announced his retirement from touring due to health concerns.

The former Deep Purple bassist and vocalist said he will undergo open-heart surgery following advice from his medical team. He will step back from all live performances for the foreseeable future.

In a statement, Hughes said that a series of MRI and CT scans, together with an echocardiogram, had shown that further heart surgery was necessary.

“This past year, I’ve had some health issues. The results from numerous MRIs, CT scans, and an echocardiogram have alerted my medical team, that I need another open-heart surgery. I really have no option and no choice as health is my number one priority. Grateful to have been chosen with a life full with the gift of music… Thank you for walking beside me.” he said.

Hughes, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Deep Purple in 2016, thanked fans for their support throughout his career.

No information has been provided regarding possible rescheduling or refunds for the cancelled concerts.
